This iconic greyscale photo is of Terry Fox, one of the most famous Canadians of the 20th century. Terry had his leg amputated when he was 19 years old after doctors discovered bone cancer. Undaunted, Terry decides to run across Canada in a "Marathon of Hope" as a way to fundraise for cancer research and to inspire others. While he ultimately ran over 3,500 kilometers from May-September of 1980, he had to stop his running when it was discovered that the cancer had spread to his lungs. Despite aggressive treatment and the support of all of Canada, Terry died less than a year later at the age of 22.

His legend lives on, however, and almost $800 million has been raised in Terry's name. Check out his foundation @ https://terryfox.org/
